Today the conservatory contains approximately 1,700 plant species. Its collection of high-altitude orchids - more than 700 of the 1,000 known species - is described as the largest and most comprehensive public collection in the world. The conservatory has many thematic pavilions. Representative plants from its collections include aquatic plants, featuring marvelous Victoris Regia, beautiful water lily with its huge pink flowers reaching 1 meter in diameter, carnivorous plants, various palms and other tropic species, either from rainforests or highland areas. Since 1998 the conservatory had more than 500,000 visitors.
